August 28th 2011 23:03
Nick Pratto singled in the winning run with two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of sixth inning, lifting Huntington Beach, CA. to a 2-1 win over Hamamatsu City, Japan Sunday in the Little League World Series championship game.
Pratto plated pinch-runner Eric Anderson with a single he smoked to center off reliever Kazuto Takakura.
Pratto sparked the celebration with his hit and didn't wait long for an exuberant reaction, tossing his helmet into the air then getting mobbed by his teammates.
California slugger Hagen Danner went yard for Huntington Beach's other run.
Braydon Salzman was terrific on the hill for the U.S., fanning nine batters in a complete game effort.
Japan won the title last year, breaking up a five-year championship run by the U.S.
Huntington each players ran a traditional victory lap around the outfield warning track, and Japan showed class and grace by high-fiving the victors at the close of the contest.
