Hall Call Much Deserved For Tennis Great Andre Agassi

July 10th 2011 01:13
Andre Agassi's day came Saturday and oh did he richly deserve induction into the Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island.

Agassi may have been a controversial figure on and off the tennis court but there simply is no denying his greatness.

Agassi was one of the top money earners of any tennis generation and probably the second best player of his time behind Pete Sampras.

He drove some people crazy during his playing days by cashing in on his good looks with a bunch of television ads, including spots for Nikon cameras.

Besides being a little bit jealous, who could blame him for striking while the iron was hot?

And sizzling it was for the photogenic talent with the great tennis game.

There's more to Agassi than what meets the eye, however.

He has become an ambassador of the sport and a good role model, despite his autobiography that included controversial aspects of his life and tennis game.

Agassi was a great tennis player and has become an even better person, and Saturday was the culmination of his achievements.
