The cause of the reaction is a protein called miraculin, which binds with the taste buds and acts as a sweetness inducer when it comes in contact with acids, according to a scientist who has studied the fruit, Linda Bartoshuk at the University of Florida’s Center for Smell and Taste.

This is a 10 out of 10 Heaps Goods. I need to get myself some of these berries. Finally, I could be able to stomach my roommates cooking, mostly his specialty: Spew inpired stew with a garnish of sawdust looking croutons (reminds me school yard over excitement).
This fruit is kind of like getting high but for your mouth. I almost got high once but I found out it was actually an incense cone, then my date punched me in the throat, made me cry and told me I had to walk myself home.
