Weird Japan: Cat Who Is Actually Employed (LINK)
June 22nd 2008 13:11
I am always hearing weird stories from Japan, square water mellons and the like. Now they have gone and shown us exactly how crazy they are. A rail company has offically put a cat on the books as a station master after it helped raise traffic to the station. I don't care what other crazy things those japanese do. I just want one question answered from them: Pokemon,"Gotta' catch 'em all", huh? Then why don't you just stop freakin' inventing so many new ones and give me a chance, bitches?
I give this 6 out of 10 Heaps Goods. I hate this cat, it does nothing except rocks up at a station, hangs out and then they give it the 5th highest job in the company. Infact, I am going to try that...
UPDATE: So I went to McDonalds and just hung out there for a while until some tween manager told me i'd have to buy something or leave. Needless to say stuff got messy and someone got their McStuffin' beaten out of them. It was me...It's more humiliating than the time I got beaten up at the Hannah Montanna conert.
"Tama is the only stationmaster as we have to reduce personnel costs. You say you could ask for the cat's help, but she is actually bringing luck to us," Wakayama Electric spokeswoman Keiko Yamaki said.
The company feeds her in lieu of salary
She rose to national stardom in January 2007 as the railway company formally appointed her as "stationmaster".
Her appointment had an immediately positive effect, boosting the number of passengers using the line in January by 17 percent from a year earlier.
"She now holds the fifth highest position in the company," Yamaki joked.
In reward for the promotion, Tama got a new "office".
